When someone says “we’re still afloat” – things must be really bad. As reported by VGC, referring to journalist Shannon Liao, such a statement about Xbox was made by the head of Microsoft’s games department.
Phil Spencer told employees that Xbox has no plans to stop making consoles just yet and that Xbox consoles will remain part of its strategy, which involves multiple device types.
Publicly, Microsoft has remained silent on recent reports that it may bring games, including its key exclusive Starfield, to the PlayStation 5. There is only the announcement of a “business update” next week.
We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.

“We are listening and we hear you. We have a business information event planned for next week, where we look forward to sharing with you more details about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay with us.”
Several big Xbox exclusives, including Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush and Indiana Jones, are said to be coming to the PS5 as part of a major shift in strategy for Microsoft’s gaming division.
If this information is confirmed, it will mark an important turn in Microsoft’s gaming strategy, according to which the company previously kept its new releases exclusively for its consoles.
Although the information has not been officially confirmed, it caused a strong negative reaction in the Xbox community, including the well-known and influential Xbox with a large number of subscribers. Some speculate that this could mean the beginning of the end for Microsoft’s console business.
