Setting up Windows 11 usually requires signing in to a Microsoft account — some users are unhappy with such requirements, and now Elon Musk has joined them.
“Just bought a new laptop and I’m not allowed to use it until I create a Microsoft account, which also means giving their AI access to my computer! Earlier, it could be missed,” wrote the outraged billionaire.
In the comments, users immediately began to share their own simple tips on how to bypass Microsoft’s requirement – one of which involves turning off the Internet connection. A similar note via Community Notes (a feature in X that allows users to fact-check publications) appeared on Musk’s post as well.
“Community Notes are failing. Such an option no longer exists,” Musk replied to this and, judging by the comments, even wrote a letter to the head of Microsoft.
In the end, about an hour later, the billionaire did admit his mistake, noting that he could not have missed the request, because his computer automatically connected to the local Wi-Fi network without a password.
Finally got through it, thanks.
The laptop automatically connects to the local Wi-Fi, which does not have a password without throwing it away. Was able to skip once I selected that.
