Microsoft is starting to roll out the next Windows 11 OS update, which includes a number of improvements and new features. Some of them are oriented to artificial intelligence.
As part of this update, Copilot in Windows 11 gets more features to control your PC. Users will now be able to ask the chatbot to turn on battery saving mode or launch accessibility features such as Screen Narrator or Screen Magnifier. Copilot will also be able to show available Wi-Fi networks, storage space and empty the recycle bin. Although the Windows 11 upgrade is available, not all features will be activated immediately. The new Copilot options will begin rolling out at the end of March
More AI-powered features are coming to Photos. The new Generative Erase feature will allow you to remove unwanted objects from a photo by simply selecting and removing them. Microsoft Clipchamp video editor has the ability to remove silence from videos.
Microsoft is also improving the widgets and Snap layouts features in Windows 11. Now you can finally disable the useless Microsoft Start channel for many, and the Windows widget panel is now compliant with the requirements of the European Digital Markets Act. So now Google can create a widget panel plugin that shows content from Google News, for example.
Windows 11’s Snap feature, which makes it easier to resize app windows, is getting smarter. Now it remembers programs that are often filmed and automatically suggests layouts.
On Windows tablets with stylus support, it became possible to write directly into text fields in the OS. This includes Windows Ink support in apps like Photos, Paint, WhatsApp, and more.
The built-in Cast function, which allows you to send content to a nearby display in Windows 11, has also been improved. The user will now be notified of suggestions to use the Cast function while multitasking. Additional improvements have been made to streaming to help find nearby displays and resolve connectivity issues.
At the same time, the Nearby Share function has been improved, which now has a higher speed of information transfer to devices on the same network. At the same time, you can give your computer an understandable name, so that it is easier for others to recognize it.
Phone Link in Windows 11 will now include the ability to access recent photos or use your phone as a webcam in video conferencing applications. Starting today, this feature is available for testing by Windows Insiders on devices running Android 9 and higher.
Finally, Microsoft is improving accessibility features in Windows 11. The new Voice Shortcuts feature lets you create your own commands to automate tasks in Windows 11’s voice accessibility feature. It’s like a voice macro, so you can automatically open a URL and perform a series of actions with a single voice command.
You can also use voice access on multiple displays, including overlaying numbers and grids on additional displays. Microsoft is also improving the Narrator feature in Windows 11 by adding natural voices that are used to translate text to speech on the device.
