On March 19th, Hi-Fi rhythm action game RUSH was released on PS5, and ironically enough, the second game from Microsoft’s in-house studios to be released on PlayStation now has a higher rating on Metacritic than the Xbox Series X|S version (91/ 100 against 87 points).
Early reviews of Hi-Fi RUSH PS5 version for PS5
In the Ukrainian PS Store, the standard edition costs UAH 599, and the Deluxe with additional content costs UAH 799. Please note that the Ukrainian localization of the game, unfortunately, did not work out.
Yes, the PS5 version of Hi-Fi RUSH currently has a Metacritic rating based on only 8 reviews (compared to 63 reviews for the Xbox Series), so it’s likely that the PlayStation score will drop (or rise?) as more reviews come in, but the situation does not become less comical. Critics loved the port, particularly praising the stable 60fps frame rate at near-4K resolution and the added features of the DualSense gamepad, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
Trailer for the release of Hi-Fi RUSH on PS5
Hi-Fi RUSH is a stylish musical salute with game design of the best of the 00s from Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo) and Bethesda Softworks. The release in January 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X|S was a real surprise, but very quickly the game won the hearts of critics and gamers. The project, among other things, is distinguished by bright cartoon graphics and primitively simple humor (the game only benefits from this and looks even better).
The main character of Hi-Fi RUSH is “future rock star” Chai, who during a bioprosthetic hand test program accidentally implants a music player in his heart, thanks to which he begins to feel the “rhythm of the world”. Declared “defective” and persecuted by the megacorporation Vandelay, which replaced him, the young man enlists the support of other heroes, including a robot cat named 808, who can visualize the rhythm, and an invisible ally Peppermint. They unite against Vandelay to put an end to her plans for population control. Hi-Fi RUSH, which looks like a cross between Devil May Cry and Guitar Hero, is definitely worth checking out and is quite capable of enjoying a few great evenings.
It remains to be remembered – at the end of February, Microsoft presented an updated Xbox multi-platform strategy, which involves the transfer of certain exclusives of the Xbox ecosystem to PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The first wave included four Xbox Game Studio games – Pentiment, Hi-Fi RUSH, Sea of Thieves and Grounded. Pentiment, a detective adventure from Obsidian, was released first on February 22, and in April, Grounded (April 16) and Sea of Thieves (April 30) are waiting.
