According to The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, the long-term friendship between Elon Musk and Google co-founder Sergey Brin has come to an end. The reason for this allegedly was Musk’s affair with Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan.
Musk and Shanahan’s alleged romance allegedly took place late last year at an Art Basel event in Miami following Elon’s split from then-girlfriend Claire Boucher. All the same informed sources claim that Brin and Shanahan at that time spent their leisure time separately, although they lived together. The couple’s relationship has reportedly been strained due to issues related to COVID-19 lockdowns and their three-year-old daughter. Brin and Shanahan filed for divorce earlier this year, citing “irreconcilable differences.” According to the WSJ, Shanahan wants more than $1 billion from Brin’s estate as part of the divorce proceedings.
Also, people familiar with the story say that at a party earlier this year, Musk got down on one knee in front of Brin and apologized for the wrongdoing and begged for forgiveness. According to the same people, Brin accepted the apology, but still rarely speaks to Musk. In addition, Brin allegedly ordered advisers to sell their personal investments in Musk’s company.
After the appearance of the publication of The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk reacted to it on Twitter, calling the story “complete nonsense.” According to Musk, he and Brin are still friends and just yesterday “were together at a party.” As for Shanahan’s alleged connection, Musk denies having an affair with her.
This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!
I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. nothing romantic.

“I only saw Nicole twice in three years, both times in the company of many people. Nothing romantic.”
This is not the first scandal in which Musk is accused of inappropriate behavior. Earlier this year, the media reported that SpaceX paid $250,000 to a flight attendant to cover up Elon Musk’s sexual harassment.
Business Insider revealed that SpaceX paid $250,000 to a flight attendant to cover up Elon Musk’s sexual harassment. He laughed it off, saying that “finally there is a reason for Elongate”
