For World Running Day on June 1st, Garmin has unveiled two new running watches. The more “simple” Forerunner 255 costs $349.99. This is a lightweight mid-range running watch based on the Forerunner 245. Available in two sizes: 46mm and 49 grams, and 41mm and 32 grams (Model 255S).
There will also be Forerunner 255 Music and 255S Music modifications that can store up to 500 songs. Playlists from Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer are also available. Music models will cost an additional $50 for a total of $399.99.
Water resistance is up to 5 ATM. Forerunner 255 will be able to work autonomously for 14 days (and up to 30 hours when using GPS). The Forerunner 255 line continues to feature continuous heart rate monitoring as well as SpO2 sensors and more.
Four colors are available: black, grey, pink and blue.
Forerunner 955 is $499.99. A solar panel option will be available. The watch is equipped with a 47mm Always On full color touch screen and weighs 52 grams. Available are the usual five physical buttons that can be used in conjunction with the touch screen. Water resistance is 5 ATM, battery life is approximately 15 days (and 42 hours with always-on GPS).
The Forerunner 955 Solar costs $599.99. The patented Garmin Power Glass solar panel will allow the watch to work up to 20 days without recharging, of which 49 hours in GPS-on mode.
The watch also received multi-band GPS, HRV status, morning reports, and a new “racing” widget.
The Forerunner 955 has the same basic features as the 255. However, this model has a few extra training metrics like PacePro and ClimbPro that provide real-time pace and altitude recommendations. You can also store more songs – 2000.
Only two colors are available: black and white.
