Exactly a year ago, Polestar promised to launch production of its new electric crossover by the end of 2022, and now a more specific date for the event has become known. So, the official announcement of the Polestar 3 will take place in October, and immediately after it will be followed by the start of sales of new items.
In this way, Polestar wants to compete in the rapidly growing market for electric crossovers, where the Tesla Model X / Y, Audi E-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQE, Rivian R1S, Fisker Ocean and others are already presented.
The assembly of the novelty will be launched at the Volvo plant in Charleston (South Carolina, USA), so the Polestar 3 will be the brand’s first truly American electric car (Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are assembled in China). Polestar 3 is an analogue of the Volvo XC90 model, it is built on the same platform of the manufacturer’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA2).
At the start of sales, buyers will receive an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors and a capacious battery, which will provide a range of 600 km. Lidar from Luminar and an embedded PC from NVIDIA will provide a semi-autonomous driving system that will allow you to move on highways without keeping your hands on the steering wheel.
Recall that earlier the manufacturer released the Polestar 1 coupe and the Polestar 2 sedan, the next in line are the Polestar 3 (2022) and Polestar 4 (2023) crossovers, as well as the Polestar 5 (2024) sedan.
