Startup Nothing, created by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is finally ready to release its first Android smartphone – the company announced that its full presentation will take place on July 12.
The live event will take place in London and will be streamed live at 11:00 AM ET (6:00 PM ET). The slogan of the presentation is Nothing (event): Return to Instinct.
Back in March, Nothing publicly released a beta version of the Nothing Launcher interface – its own launcher based on Android 11 – and invited everyone to protest. And now Nothing Phone 1 (it is expected that this is how the novelty will be called) seems to be ready to enter the market.
So far, there are few details regarding Nothing Phone 1 – it is reported that the phone will have transparent elements in its design, LED-backlit inserts on the back of the device and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Nothing Phone 1 will be Nothing’s second product. Last year, the startup launched Nothing Ear (1) TWS headphones for $99, featuring original design and decent sound. They received generally positive feedback from both specialized tech sites and users. So we’re looking forward to the new product, especially considering that Nothing was previously bought out by Android creator Andy Rubin’s Essential brand, along with many interesting ideas that the startup never implemented in the end.
Previously, Carl Pei revealed that Nothing is preparing many products in a number of categories, aiming to create an entire ecosystem of devices.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei named his new company Nothing. Investors include iPod father Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Reddit CEO Steve Huffman.
