Today, June 10, 2022, the Ukrainian car plant Eurocar resumed the assembly of Skoda cars. The Czech company Skoda Auto, which is part of the Volkswagen Group, decided to provide additional support to Ukraine on the economic front and resumed deliveries of vehicle kits to our country.
In particular, the first batch included 80 KODIAQ and KAROQ crossovers in SKD kit format. Note that SKD (Semi Knocked Down) means that the power unit (engine, gearbox, front axle), rear axle, wheels, exhaust system, as well as the driveshaft for 4 × 4 models are dismantled from finished cars. The main components, together with the body, are sent for reassembly to a factory in Ukraine.
A further increase in production will directly depend on the demand for new cars and the development of the war in Ukraine. The vacant premises of the plant will continue to serve as a center for the residence of temporarily displaced persons.
Recall that “Eurocar” is located in the Uzhgorod district of the Transcarpathian region. The territory of the Eurocar plant borders on Slovakia and Hungary. The construction of the car plant was started on July 23, 2001, since then the company has been constantly implementing innovation and investment activities. On December 19, 2011, Eurocar celebrated the tenth anniversary of its production activity since the technical start-up of the plant in 2001. The total investment in the Eurocar project is $250 million.
