Honda launched a new line of business and created Striemo, which will focus on micromobility solutions. We are talking about short trips to work, to the suburbs or on campus.
Striemo has already prepared for the release of its first device – the eponymous self-balancing electric scooter. It has 3 wheels and a proprietary balance support system. According to the manufacturer, the device provides a stable ride over the entire range of speeds – from the minimum, comparable to slow walking, to the maximum, like when riding a bicycle.
The Striemo electric scooter weighs 20 kg and has a load capacity of up to 120 kg. The availability of three speed modes with a maximum speed of 6 km/h, 15 km/h and 25 km/h is reported. The power reserve is up to 30 km on a full battery charge, and charging takes 3.5 hours. Striemo electric scooter can be folded and rolled on two rear wheels. The company is working on a companion app, but its capabilities are yet to be specified.
The Striemo electric scooter will go on sale in Japan before the end of this year, and in Europe and the US in 2023. The company has already begun accepting pre-orders in Japan for the first limited edition of 300 scooters priced at $1,900.
