As you remember, on March 17, the international payment system PayPal announced its full launch in Ukraine. However, in reality, it turned out that the platform works in our country with some restrictions, and then there were rumors that the banking license was valid in our country until June 30, after which PayPal would stop accepting funds in our country.
In an interview with EP, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov denied this information. He stated that PayPal did not confirm this information, and the rumors only concern the commission for a transaction and withdrawing money from an account to a bank card. At the moment, there is no such commission, but after June 30 it will appear – this is a common practice for the service.
“In Davos, we met with Dan Shulman, CEO of PayPal.
We talked to him and I asked him to give legal entities the opportunity to use PayPal as well. So that our online stores, our manufacturers can sell to the whole world, accepting money on PayPal.
Therefore, there are plans for the development of PayPal products in Ukraine. These are general plans, and not just our desire. I am sure that this will happen and PayPal will continue to work,” said Mikhail Fedorov.
Recall that on March 17, PayPal announced that it was launching its P2P transfer service in Ukraine. This decision was made because of the war in Ukraine. For a long time, PayPal only allowed outgoing transactions from Ukraine. Now the service will be provided to Ukrainians in full. However, already in April, some Ukrainian banks blocked attempts to replenish their accounts or transfers in these systems, citing NBU restrictions.
