Voicemod, a popular real-time voice changer, is starting to use AI to make the user’s voice sound like the voice of various characters. The new beta version of Voicemod AI Voices offers 8 options for transforming into the voices of fantasy characters, pilots, astronauts and actor Morgan Freeman.
Voicemod has been transforming voices for a long time thanks to classic sound design techniques. But now, artificial intelligence functions are additionally applied for new voice effects. The voices are processed in real time, so they’re perfect for streaming on Twitch or making Discord calls.
All data for these voices was generated using English-speaking professional voice actors with characteristics consistent with the voice recreated by Voicemod. Actors read scripts to generate data for AI-based models, and then sound designers use traditional sound design techniques to turn voices into full-fledged characters. Many AI voices include dynamic effects, filters, and background music. Because these AI voices are processed on the user’s computer, they require more CPU power than regular Voicemod effects.
