As planned, on July 1, a recent government decision came into force , canceling the visa-free regime with Russia – now citizens from a terrorist country need to apply for a visa to enter the territory of Ukraine, and even it does not guarantee the possibility of entry. The introduction of visas for Russians was confirmed by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
From today, Russians are prohibited from entering, leaving, transiting, staying and moving around the territory of Ukraine without visas. Restrictions on crossing the border also apply to residents of the border regions of Russia. That is, they are allowed to cross the Ukrainian border exclusively through international and interstate checkpoints. Russians will also undergo additional checks to obtain visas.
At the same time, obtaining a visa is not a guarantee that everyone who wants to enter the territory of Ukraine will be able to do this – the final decision on permission to cross the border is made by officials of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Russians on the sanctions lists and persons who threaten the national security of Ukraine will not receive visas.
What documents are needed to obtain a visa
- international passport
- Invitation
- Copy of the passport details of the inviting party
At the same time, without an invitation, Russian citizens will not be able to enter the territory of Ukraine.
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security (SPRAVDI) explained in detail how the citizens of the aggressor country will be able to enter Ukraine and how difficult the visa regime makes this process.
