Mozilla has released a new version of the Firefox browser, which has received additional features to ensure user privacy.
The Query Parameter Striping feature automatically strips character strings appended to the end of a URL. These URL parameters allow various sites (such as Facebook, Hubspot, Olytics, and more) to track user conversions and serve targeted ads to them.
We are talking about cases where instead of the usual address https://www.site.com/example.html something like https://www.site.com/example.html?fbclid=aa7-V4yb6Yfit_9_Pd is displayed.
This set of characters after the question mark is a query parameter that can tell a business that a user has clicked on a link, helping to profile them for ad targeting. If you enable the Query Parameter Striping feature in the latest version of Firefox, it will remove these “extra” characters before loading the URL. Thus, Facebook will not receive information about the user. The feature is currently blacklisted and covers Olytics, Drip, Vero, HubSpot, Marketo, and Facebook.
To activate this feature, you need to go to the Privacy & Security settings section and select Strict in the Enhanced Tracking Protection option.
