Ukrainians are developing a secure messenger Dober , which will be useful for business, the army and just for the domestic market. Through the application, people will be able to exchange messages and audio, files, photos and videos, as well as manage closed groups. Why did you decide to create a messenger
The idea of a startup appeared after the failure of Google services at the beginning of 2021, because of which YouTube, Gmail, Google Meet, Google Drive stopped working.
A year ago, the Dober team, which brought together several developers, began to analyze cases where user information was leaked from various social projects. So we decided to create a confidential communication service.
“The current situation in Ukraine has shown how important it is to have your own messenger and not rely on Viber, WatsApp or Telegram. After all, everyone has channels for collecting information about users and their correspondence ,” says the Dober team.
For example, in 2021, the Property of the People organization published a document stating that the FBI has the ability to read user information from the most popular instant messengers in the world.

What will be the Dober messenger
Dober is a free app for Android and iOS and a web version that works without installing a special app on your phone or computer. The product also includes a corporate server based on the Linux operating system.
The development team wants to develop the product in two directions – it will be both a corporate and a public blockchain-based messenger with the ability to integrate a cryptocurrency wallet.

Product pros: from a corporate server to data encryption
- End-to-end encryption is not susceptible to hacking by modern computers. That is, the product will work on a unique post-quantum cryptography that is not used by any of the publicly available protocols.
- User privacy – no link to a phone number or email, no integration with the phone book.
- Tracking sessions by device . The user can always see on which devices he logged into the messenger, as well as disconnect the session if he forgot to exit it.
- Mandatory app PIN protection : No integration with Android and iOS security mechanisms.
- The service does not collect data about users and will not transfer information to third-party services, namely phone numbers, interests, and the like.
- Dedicated server , controlled by the owner of the information. That is, a corporate client will have its own server with the range of users it will allow.
- Centralized storage of encrypted information on the server. That is, confidential business data is not available on users’ devices, and the loss of the gadget will not lead to the loss of information.
The new messenger will be of interest to ordinary users, businesses and corporations for internal communication, as well as the army thanks to encrypted reliable communication.
“Our military should not use foreign IT products even for personal purposes. We must follow the example of Switzerland, where the military was banned from using foreign instant messengers ,” say the creators of the program.

What’s next
The Dober team hopes that the initiative will develop. The first stage should be the release of the corporate messenger, and the second – the creation of a pilot version of the public messenger.
“To do this, we need to finish the address book a bit – make a global address book and a personal address book. If there are no force majeure events, then in the fall we are planning the first launch, ” the developers say.
The first version will not contain a very large set of functions: text messaging, audio, photo, video and files. The functionality of the application is planned to be constantly increased so that it meets the requirements of users and corporate customers. Dober is also negotiating with companies that check IT security about testing product security. We are talking about the reliability of end-to-end encryption, the quality of protection against external and internal intruders.
