Almost all major automakers are working on projects of budget electric vehicles ( Volkswagen, Cupra and Skoda even managed to show sketches ), which should conquer the market and involve a wide range of consumers in the process of “electromobilization”. As it turned out, the Korean brand Hyundai did not stay away from this trend.
Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, marketing director of Hyundai Motor Europe, said bluntly that the parent company is not only working on high-level and expensive electric trains from the IONIQ family. According to him, the company’s engineers are already working on an electric car cheaper than $20,000, which will replace the Hyundai i10 compact hatchback in the product line.
The company expects that this model will allow the brand to retain market share during the active transition of the European automotive market to “green” technologies. We are talking about a situation where a European needs a new car, but he does not want (or cannot) buy an ICE model due to government restrictions or financial/tax inexpediency.
Recall that recently the Koreans introduced a serial electric car Hyundai IONIQ 6 and showed “hot” electric concepts Hyundai RN22e and N Vision 74 .
