Meta, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Diya.Business, launches an assistance program to restore the economy of Ukraine . Within its framework, Meta opens a specialized training center for Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses. Various educational resources are now available to Ukrainian entrepreneurs for free, including more than 20 Blueprint courses, as well as the Meta Boost learning platform in Ukrainian. Moreover, Meta will provide $1.5 million in financial support to enable Ukrainian SMEs to run advertising campaigns on its platforms.
According to the European Commission, before the Russian invasion, small and medium-sized enterprises played a significant role in job creation, accounting for 63.8% of Ukraine’s total employed population. The war has caused 50% of Ukrainian businesses to close completely, while the other half are forced to work far below their capacity (according to the United Nations Development Program 2022).
“The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine is working closely with Meta. By the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, together we launched workshops for entrepreneurs, an educational SMB Hub Ukraine for small and medium-sized businesses, a Ukrainian version of the Get Digital digital education platform for parents, teachers and teenagers, as well as a notification system for the disappearance of children AMBER Alert.
I am grateful to Meta for supporting Ukraine and Ukrainian entrepreneurs during a full-scale war. The allocation of $1.5 million for advertising campaigns for Ukrainian entrepreneurs is an important contribution to the resumption of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine,” said Valeria Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine for European Integration.
The economic recovery program includes the launch of a dedicated clearing house with many free seminars and training such as the Meta Blueprint and Meta Boost. In addition, the resource will contain inspiring stories of successful Ukrainian enterprises, important information about local partnership programs and many other useful resources. WhatsApp has announced the launch of a chatbot to make the learning process even more efficient. All resources will be available to entrepreneurs in Ukrainian. The program aims to provide access to information, training and open new opportunities for business owners.
Meta Blueprint is a global educational program that allows participants to expand their knowledge and skills in digital marketing and social media. It contains dozens of trainings and seminars and provides an opportunity to obtain a certificate confirming the participant’s competence. The program aims to upskill and educate SMEs on cutting-edge content, from working with ads to executing creative strategies. The Meta Boost platform provides numerous online seminars on how to effectively build a company’s image, increase brand awareness, keep in touch with customers, and create interesting engaging content. Ukrainian entrepreneurs will have free access to useful educational content, as well as necessary resources to help them improve their skills.
“Ukrainian entrepreneurs argue that even war cannot destroy the true desire for continuous development. No matter how horrific the circumstances are, these people continue to look for ways to stay afloat. We at Meta are deeply impressed by their dedication, and in order to support Ukrainian businesses, we are launching the Ukrainian Economic Recovery Program. Entrepreneurs will have access to a plethora of educational resources, tutorials and helpful tips on how to successfully run a business in the digital world – all in Ukrainian. We have included only the most relevant materials in our educational hub, so everyone will definitely find something useful for themselves. Ukrainian entrepreneurs are the people who inspire us every day, so I hope that our initiative will cheer them up and help them achieve significant heights,” adds Ekaterina Kruk, Public Policy Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at Meta.
The company noted that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Meta has been taking a number of actions to support people who remain in the territories covered by the war. The company is actively fighting disinformation on its platforms in order to provide users with truthful and verified content about the current situation in Ukraine. In addition, Meta focuses on providing needed support to non-profit organizations and co-creating technology for humanitarian purposes. The company has already launched a WhatsApp chatbot that provides news from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Thanks to fundraisers organized through Facebook and Instagram, more than $15 million has already been raised for humanitarian aid to Ukrainian non-governmental organizations.
