The Chinese company Roborock has been regularly supplying intelligent robotic vacuum cleaners to the market for several years. What is there: I myself have a younger model Roborock E4 riding around the apartment, the work of which I am quite satisfied with. Today we will talk about a much more premium product – the Roborock Q7 Max vacuum cleaner with a modern navigation system and enviable power.

Appearance
Only a trained eye can distinguish the Roborock Q7 Max from other Chinese robotic vacuum cleaners. Before us is a classic “tablet” with a towering LiDAR tower, made in black or white. However, there are still some peculiarities here.
In addition to the usual keys “Cleaning” and “Home”, on the top panel there is a button to protect against accidental pressing. It is needed, first of all, to prevent pressing by children and animals.
At the end, collision sensors, air outlets and a movable bumper with rubberized edging have found their place (allows both the vacuum cleaner and objects in the house to be more intact).
At the bottom there are rubber-coated wheels, height sensors, as well as silicone side and main brushes. According to the experience of owning the Roborock E4, one silicone foot is quite capable of collecting debris and does not jam like those made of pile.
The main brush at first glance seems to be more durable. Due to the shape and material, all hair and other winding debris go to the edge of the brush, from where it can be easily removed without a knife (as is the case with tufted and combined brushes).
Under the top cover is hidden a combined container for water and litter. According to the manufacturer’s official website, the water tank should be enough to clean 240 m², but the final value depends on the intensity of the water supply.
Another detail in the wet cleaning system is the unit connected to the bottom with a microfiber cloth. Everything is connected and removed without problems, but I cannot but note that the more parts in this system, the higher the probability of a malfunction. This is especially true for those who do not have the cleanest water flowing in the tap.
I would like to praise the charging station for its compact size and the presence of brushes for contacts (!). Every time you drive in / out of the charging station, the power contacts willy-nilly are cleaned of dust. True, it is not entirely clear why the attention to detail was enough for the brushes, but not enough for the minimal concealment of the port for the network cable: it just sticks out from the side.
To update the firmware and access all the functions of the vacuum cleaner, you need to download a proprietary application to your smartphone and go through the procedure for connecting the vacuum cleaner via a Wi-Fi network. Then you can control the vacuum cleaner from your smartphone or with the help of Alice’s smart assistant (relevant for official Russian versions).
The Roborock Q7 Max is equipped with a PreciSense LiDAR laser navigation system. When you first start in a new environment, the vacuum cleaner will build a map of space and divide it into rooms. In the application, you can set restricted areas, virtual walls, dry cleaning zones, cleaning schedules, as well as look at the map in 3D and arrange furniture on it. There is little practical sense in the latter, but it looks pretty.
The application also sets the intensity of suction and wetting of the floor. The maximum suction power is as much as 4200 Pa ( Roborock S6 Pure has 2000 Pa), and the wetting intensity can be set to one of three presets or finely tuned in 30 gradations.
Exploitation
During testing, we did not encounter any noticeable problems in the operation of the vacuum cleaner. On the first run, he successfully mapped the area and found his way back to the charging station. The initial cleaning of a 137 m² room took 144 minutes and consumed 58% of the charge. The volume of operation at maximum power is slightly louder than the Roborock S6 Pure, but still bearable.
In the “home test” the device performed perfectly. A day after the complete cleaning of the room with another Roborock Q7 Max robot vacuum cleaner, I was able to pick up an almost full tank of litter (maybe it was pumped out of the lower layers of carpets?). In the process of cleaning, the vacuum cleaner did not “stupid”, did not “think” and did not get stuck in tight spaces. The LiDAR laser tower also serves as a top bumper to prevent pinching under sofas.
I would like to call service convenient, but in fact it is not much different from analogues. Yes, the container is combined, and it would really be easier than fooling around with two, but a separate module for wet cleaning somewhat spoils this scenario. As a result, we still have the same two items in our hands.
For those who want to keep their personal cleaning to a minimum, there are two options: purchase a version of Roborock Q7 Max + with an automatic dust collector station, or purchase such a station separately for Q7 Max. Its essence is simple: after cleaning, the station draws rubbish from the vacuum cleaner into its own replaceable bag with a volume of 2.5 liters, which reduces the user’s contact with dust to a minimum.
conclusions
Robot vacuum cleaner Roborock Q7 Max left a positive impression. The device looks nice, is intelligent, has serious suction power, allows you to do wet cleaning, fine-tune the behavior through the application, and also pleases with the presence of brushes for power contacts and the ability to connect an automatic cleaning station. You can recommend to take a closer look at it to anyone who is looking for a modern, powerful robot vacuum cleaner for spacious rooms.
