Google decided to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the rebranding of its own online application store for Android (on October 22, 2008 it was launched under the name Android Market, and on March 6, 2012 Google renamed it Play Market) – the company updated the color palette of the logo and its icon .
Google has slightly changed the overall shape of the Google Play logo, but the most visually noticeable changes are the less vibrant hues of the traditional four-color scheme (green, yellow, blue and red) that Google uses for many of its other services. This subtle visual adjustment is in harmony with the changes to the Chrome logo – at the beginning of the year, Google updated it for the first time in eight years .
The logo includes an updated pictogram – the corners are not as sharp.
“We’re introducing a new logo that better captures the magic of Google and aligns with the overall branding that shares many of our useful products – Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more.”
Tian Lim,
VP of Google Play
