While communicating with investors about the results of the second quarter of this year, representatives of General Motors noted the high interest of potential buyers in the Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup truck. The novelty, which is the main competitor for the Ford F-150 Lightning in the US market, has already been pre-ordered by 150,000 users.
It is indicative that two-thirds of pre-orders (about 65%) for the Chevrolet Silverado EV fell on Americans who had not previously purchased cars of this brand. That is, we are not talking about users loyal to the company, but about drivers who, for various reasons (savings, ecology, etc.), want to purchase an electric pickup truck. Note that the novelty will go on sale in the spring of 2023, so this wait cannot be called too long.
Earlier , the management of General Motors also announced the figures for pre-orders for electric GMC Hummers – their number has already exceeded 80 thousand units. There are slightly more than 40% of new buyers for the brand, however, given the high cost (from $79,995), this is also a very good result.
Recall that in the period from 2022 to 2024, General Motors is going to produce and sell about 400 thousand electric vehicles and a total of 230 thousand pre-orders show that at least there are no problems with demand.
