American startup Nimbus has opened pre-orders for its first electric tricycle Nimbus One, focused on use in large cities.
Due to the minimum dimensions (length 2.3 meters, width 0.86 meters), the tricycle can be parked anywhere. For example, the creators demonstrate the parking of three Nimbus Ones at once in one parking space.
At the same time, the tricycle is capable of transporting two people at once, like the same Smart city car, but not side by side, but one after another. The cabin has an airbag, heating and optional air conditioning, as well as built-in Bluetooth speakers.
The frame of the Nimbus One is welded from heavy-duty steel, the body panels are made of thermoplastic, as a result, the curb weight of the electric vehicle is only 375 kg.
The developers do not mention the power of the electric motor, but they assure that it is capable of accelerating the Nimbus One to 80 km / h, gaining the first 50 km / h in just 3 seconds. The 9 kWh battery provides up to 150 km of run. It can be recharged using a standard connector, with a charge from 0 to 95% of capacity in 5.4 hours from a household outlet or 1.2 hours from a faster Level 2 charge.
But even more interesting is the option of charging the batteries at home – just remove them from under the seat and plug them into a power outlet or charger. Accordingly, if you purchase another set of batteries, you can double the power reserve by charging the second set while using the first.
Like other similar models, Nimbus One is able to lean in a turn, providing excellent handling. The Nimbus Balance intelligent system allows you not to roll over when driving too aggressively, the ABS, Traction control, Frontal Collision Warning and other systems also help the driver (functionality is updated using OTA updates).
To pre-order the Nimbus One, all you need to do is pay $100 on the official website and then pay the remaining $9,980 or pay $200 per month for tricycle rental. The company expects to ship the device to the US in the third quarter of 2023 and to Europe in the first quarter of 2024.
