The presentation of the Xiaomi 12S family, the date of which was announced a little earlier , is a major event for the company. To emphasize this, Xiaomi sent special invitations to journalists, full of symbolism. They are a wooden case, inside which lies a bottle of German white wine Rheingau Riesling, the grapes for which originally grew in the Rhine Valley, Germany. Nearby, in the town of Wetzlar, on the Eisenmarkt square, a photograph was taken on the first Ur-Leica camera in 1914. It was this picture that Xiaomi posted on a newspaper in which a bottle of wine is wrapped. Next to the original is another photo from the same angle, apparently taken on Xiaomi 12S Ultra – more than 100 years later.
In this way, Xiaomi points to the fusion of centuries of Leica experience with modern innovations, once again announcing the start of a new era of mobile photography. However, alternative, playful interpretations immediately formed among Chinese fans: “You will need this bottle after you see the device” and “Old wine in a new bottle” with a hint that Xiaomi 12S Ultra will not differ too much from Mi 11 Ultra in terms of cameras – at least, so many rumors say . Whether this is the case, we will find out next Monday.
