They miss home and volunteer: how thousands of Ukrainians who fled the war to Germany live

Millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes because of the war unleashed by Russia. More than 280 thousand people are in Germany.

They are trying to arrange life for children, volunteer and many are waiting for their men to return from the war.

About people who 3 months ago did not imagine that they would become refugees, according to TSN.

Anna Petrichenko is twice a displaced person, as she calls herself. In 2014, she fled with her family from her native Gorlovka. She came not far, to Bakhmut. Now with the children we stopped in Germany.

In peacetime, she had a small business – they sewed children’s clothes. In the military, everyone had to retrain and help the military as much as possible.

“I collect orders from entrepreneurs who work. I make a list. We work with this list to find out which enterprises can meet these needs,” Anna notes.

Now the volunteer is looking for a special fabric for unloading. Seamstresses from Lviv asked for this.

The result of joint efforts right in the military – Anna is sent a photo report. At the same time, a new request comes from her husband. He is in Kramatorsk, responsible for medical support.

To help the military with medicines, a whole volunteer headquarters deployed a formation in the middle of Berlin. This is the Polish Institute. Piletsky. In the basement – an exhibition. The exhibits tell about the horror of the Auschwitz concentration camp, about the Holocaust, which was staged by the Nazis. It was here that Ukrainian women were given premises so that they could help fight against the genocide, which was staged by the Rashists. The boxes contain medicines and boxes of first-aid kits already assembled. They are completed according to the NATO model. Tactical backpacks for paramedics are also assembled here. And they are very happy about the responses of the military.

Funds are collected from donations, both Ukrainians and Germans come to complete. Even children work, their drawings are laid out in backpacks.

Their grandfathers fought against Nazi Germany in World War II. Now they are asking the Germans for help to defeat the Russians. Women and children running away from the war found themselves far from home, as they go to work to numerous actions in defense of Ukraine. Everyone is trying to do at least something to win. And everyone hopes that this will happen as soon as possible, because they really want to go home.
