The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanks Pope Francis for his efforts to establish a just peace and stop the war.
This was stated by the speaker of the Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko, – writes Ukrinform.
“We are grateful for the efforts of the Pope of Rome to establish a just peace and stop the war, which was in no way provoked by Ukraine, NATO or any other third party. Both for the pontiff and for the whole world, it has now become quite obvious that neither Russia nor Putin personally is determined to stop the bloodshed on Ukrainian soil,” Nikolenko said.
The Roman pontiff stated that Moscow ignored all calls from the Vatican to end the war. Ukraine reaffirms its commitment to dialogue and once again renews its invitation to the Pope to pay a visit to Kyiv.
“We believe that good will definitely overcome evil. We call on the Holy Father to continue to pray for the Ukrainians and make efforts for peace in Ukraine,” he stressed.
In addition, the Pope also said that he was ready to meet with the President of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin , in Moscow. At the same time, the Pope sees no point in going to Kyiv.
Recall, NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov said that Russia warned Hungary about the war in Ukraine.
