The new package of anti-Russian sanctions will expand the embargo on imports of advanced technologies to Russia, including a ban on the supply of quantum computers.

The Japanese government has decided to introduce an additional package of sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the war unleashed by the Kremlin in Ukraine.

This was announced on Thursday, May 5, by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at a press conference following talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London, Reuters reports .

The new package of sanctions consists of four main directions. “First of all, it is the freezing of assets of about 140 more individuals,” the head of the Japanese government said.

The new sanctions also include expanding the ban on the supply of various products to Russian companies associated with the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, expanding the list of Russian banks that are subject to restrictions, as well as expanding the embargo on imports of advanced technologies to the Russian Federation – in particular, the introduction of a ban on the supply of quantum computers.

Specific lists of sanctions will be made public by the Japanese side in the coming days.

Kisida also promised to continue active support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.

Earlier, Japan has already adopted a number of sanctions against more than 500 Russian citizens, among rjnjhs[ – representatives of the country’s leadership, officials and businessmen. In addition, Japan has frozen the assets of several banks and about 40 Russian organizations and companies.
