At a meeting on May 10, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted bills that propose introducing a moratorium on raising tariffs for heat, hot water, gas and its distribution for all categories of consumers for the wartime period and 6 months after its completion.
The bills will define compensatory mechanisms to maintain the proper level of infrastructure and its restoration.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting.
“The government will submit bills to the Verkhovna Rada that provide for a moratorium on tariff increases for the period of martial law and 6 months after it ends. Tariffs for gas and its distribution, as well as for heat and hot water, will not increase . In these difficult days, any increase in tariffs Definitely not at the right time,” the prime minister said.
At the same time, the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, specified that the bills approved by the government propose to establish a ban on raising tariffs for heat supply, gas distribution services and hot water supply for all categories of consumers.
“At the same time, the price of natural gas for household consumers is not subject to an increase from the price applied as of February 24, 2022. It is proposed to prohibit natural gas suppliers from taking any actions to force a household consumer to pay debts,” Melnychuk said.
