Dnipro doctors save children from Luhansk region: they came under fire when they ran to hide in the basement

A wounded family from the Luhansk region is being rescued by doctors in the Dnieper.

On the eve of May 9, their town was shelled by Russian invaders. Shells flew into the courtyard of the 5-storey building. Two boys died immediately. Two sisters, aged 8 and 12, were seriously injured when they tried to hide in the basement. Not hurt only the woman who brings up the girls. At present, children are wounded in the Dnieper. The Mdics do everything they can to keep them alive.

More details about saving children – in the plot of TSN.

Mrs. Vera barely holds back her tears as she recalls the events of May 7th. On this day, her entire family came under fire. The woman is raising a 12-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old granddaughter, whose mother left the child at one time. Due to constant shelling, the family actually lived in the basement for the last three weeks. In addition, the woman’s grandmother and two nephews were with them.

The last shelling of the Rashists took the family by surprise when they were on the street. “We came to cook food. We ate and decided to go to the basement. We literally had three steps to run. The children didn’t have time,” recalls Vera Sarikova, mother and grandmother of the wounded girls.

The woman’s nephews, aged 11 and 14, died on the spot. Grandmother was injured by debris. 12-year-old Ruslana and 8-year-old Zhenya were seriously injured. Only Mrs. Vera was not hurt. The Ukrainian military helped evacuate the family. First, they were taken to the Lysichansk hospital, and then the wounded family was transferred to the Dnieper. Grandmother has splinters. The girls are in intensive care.

“12-year-old daughter Ruslana has a skull injury. Her arm is broken. A rolling pin is in her hand and leg. The granddaughter of 8-year-old Zhenya has her lungs injured. Her arm is also broken. Splinters hit her leg,” the woman says.

Now Dnipro doctors are solving the issues of transporting children to Lviv. However, there are no forecasts. Where to seek asylum and what to do next, the woman does not think. Now the main thing for her is that the two most dear people get better.

By the way, since the beginning of the war, 67 children with mine-explosive and gunshot wounds have been admitted to Dnipro hospitals alone. Most of them were saved.
