Apple raises App Store prices for Europe and Asia

Apple said it will raise prices in the App Store in Europe and select Asian markets next month. This is due to the fact that local currencies are weakening against the strong US dollar. The price increase will affect both app purchases in the App Store and in-app purchases. The new prices will come into effect on October 5, 2022.

The price increase will affect all countries using the euro, as well as Sweden, South Korea, Chile, Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam and Japan. In all European markets except Montenegro, the app’s base price of €0.99 will increase by 20% to €1.19. In Japan, as the yen falls to a new 24-year low against the US dollar, prices are rising by more than 30%.

Additionally, it should be noted that Apple periodically adjusts prices in the App Store, taking into account currency fluctuations. Last year, the company lowered the app’s base price in the Eurozone from €1.09 to €0.99.

The App Store price adjustments come just a few weeks after Apple increased prices on the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models in many markets outside the US. The price of the iPhone 14 in the UK now starts at £849, while last year the iPhone 13 started at £779. iPhone prices in Ireland increased from €909 to €1019.
