«We have an extensive extravehicular activity program – ten spacewalks. I’m lucky to work in three“, – said Oleg Novitsky during a pre-flight online conference. It was also said that cosmonaut Pyotr Dubov will perform up to seven spacewalks, “если всё пойдёт по плану».
Earlier, Vladimir Solovyov, Flight Director of the ISS Russian Segment, told reporters that the multifunctional laboratory module “Science” would be launched into outer space this summer. He also noted that in order to integrate the Nauka module with the orbital station, it would be necessary to carry out up to eight spacewalks.
Even during the conference, it was said that no new tools would be delivered on board the Soyuz MS-18 to search for cracks on the ISS, since everything needed at the station is already present. “No new instruments are planned yet, everything you need is on board. Just because of the small size, you have to spend a lot of time searching“, – quotes the source of the words of Oleg Novitsky. He also expressed the hope that the crew now on the ISS will be able to complete the search and elimination of cracks, noting their readiness to continue activities in this direction if necessary.
