An engineering sample of the AMD Ryzen 7000 processor of the upcoming Raphael series has appeared in the OpenBenchmarking database. The chip was tested in the comprehensive Phoronix Test Suite, which is used by various companies to check the stability of a particular computer equipment.

The specified engineering sample of the Ryzen 7000 processor was marked with OPN code 100-000000666. The data indicates that the chip has 8 cores on board with support for 16 virtual threads, and operates at a frequency of up to 5.21 GHz. The processor was tested on the Splinter-RPL AM5 test platform in the Ubuntu 20.04 software environment.

The chip data also contains the identification number of the integrated graphics core – GFX1036. It is expected that the integrated graphics of the Ryzen 7000 processors will be built on the RDNA 2 architecture.

There is no information about the speed of the processor itself yet, only about graphics soon. But there is nothing to surprise here yet. Since the chip that was tested was an engineering sample, its integrated graphics obviously did not work at full capacity. In its current state, its performance is lower than that of the “inserts” of Intel Xe-LP and Radeon Vega, and even more so Van Gogh (iGPU of the Steam Deck console).

Note that in the upcoming generation of AMD processors, all or most models will receive integrated graphics. Right now, only Ryzen G-series chips, which are built on the same chips as AMD Ryzen mobile processors, have “embedded” chips. In the next generation, this approach will be abandoned, if the rumors do not lie.

However, it should also be borne in mind that the integrated graphics of the Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) processors do not claim to be gaming. The graphics core of the Ryzen 7000 desktop processors will serve only one purpose – displaying an image on the screen without the need for a discrete graphics card, while possibly having a basic set for decoding a video stream. Again, if rumors are to be believed.

Ryzen 7000 desktop processors are expected in the second half of this year. Perhaps they will be released in September. AMD will take part in Computex 2022 at the end of this month, where it may reveal new details about these chips.
