MegaFon, a new tariff line

This time the previous line lasted 3 months, which is not bad for MegaFon. Changes in different regions are noticeably different, in Moscow tariffs have become better. Some regions with the new line are not lucky, apparently, depends on the position of the operator in a particular regional market.

I also strongly advise you to read our review of the “No Overpayments” line here, since now we have received, though important, but relatively small updates, but last time the “Switch on” line was thoroughly shaken up. At the same time, the names were changed, too, quite successfully. I will quote some parts of that review, there is no point in almost rewriting in other words what was published earlier.

About tariff names

MegaFon, a new tariff line

It is appropriate here to directly quote the paragraph from the previous review without any changes:

“Tariff names are self-explanatory, a dream of a seller and a consultant. And the user is good. In the seller’s manual, the first question is: “Do you need to call or use the Internet?” If the client clearly answers the question, then here’s the “Internet” tariff or the “Calls” tariff, everyone is happy. If the client is in doubt, “… yes, I need everything …”, then here’s the “Everything” tariff and don’t deny yourself anything! If he listens to the parameters and says “no, probably, it will not be enough for me”, then here is “Maximum!”, And if “no, it’s dear to me”, then “the“ Minimum ”tariff is really created for you!”. This, of course, is an enlarged picture of those who do not go into tariff depths. On the other hand, the majority of such clients are in the salons. They just came to help them choose the right option. “

The “Minimum” tariff never made it to Moscow, but it is present in the regions.

About “Piggy bank”

As I already wrote, about the key features of the line “No overpayments” in “MegaFon” in simple and understandable language written on the site here, I advise you to visit and familiarize yourself. Really simple and straightforward. The details are worse, you have to dig and collect information. Perhaps the most interesting and unusual for potential users is the “Piggy Bank” option, which looks great on the website’s advertising page (I’m not kidding), but in fact, of course, there are some subtleties. In order not to chase you by the link once again, I will repeat what I wrote about the Piggy Bank in the previous review.

It is extremely interesting to organize the storage of unused traffic, the service is called “Piggy bank”. Depending on the tariff level, unused traffic gets into a 25, 50 or 100 GB “piggy bank” and then lies there for as long as necessary until it is needed. Internet traffic is consumed from the package, if not enough, it starts to come from the “piggy bank”. Management of the “Piggy bank” (connect / disconnect) only through your personal account, you can read about the “Piggy bank” on the MegaFon website here. If the Piggy Bank is connected, then when the tariff is changed, the option itself and the accumulated gigabytes are saved if the selected new tariff supports the Piggy Bank. If it does not support (for example, on the selected new tariff, Internet unlimited), then alas. Naturally, if you switch to a tariff with a lower maximum amount of “Piggy bank”, and managed to accumulate more at the previous tariff, then part of the accumulated money will not flow into the new piggy bank. It is also natural that the first gigabytes in the piggy bank may appear only 30 days after connecting to the tariff of the new line.

The limitations are clear and logical. Maybe there is a catch in the small print, but at first glance, everything is fine. If there is no serious catch, then the tariff alone is worth taking. Conventionally, a “catch” can be considered the fact that the “Piggy bank”, most likely, will have to be connected independently, since there is no “Piggy bank” in the list of free services included in the tariff.

About tariffs themselves

“No overpayments Internet”… The subscription fee is 500 rubles / month. Data transfer – 20 GB (was 15 GB), unlimited on social networks when in Moscow and the Moscow region. The package of 400 minutes (was 500) is spent on all local mobile calls, calls to MegaFon in all regions are not consumed. From August 11, 2020, the cost of calls to numbers of other Russian operators and landline numbers in Russia will be 3 rubles. per minute instead of 13 rubles. SMS are not included in the tariff. MegaFon Zashchita, Piggy bank (50 GB), Internet distribution (tettering) for free. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package.

The tariff has definitely improved. Minutes were made 400 instead of 500, but they added traffic, making 20 GB instead of 15, which is logical for a tariff called “Internet”. Removed the shameful 13 rubles / min for intercity, now 3 rubles / min.

“No overpayment Calls”… The subscription fee is 600 rubles / month. Data transfer – 5 GB. A package of 800 minutes (it was 600 minutes) is spent on all calls within Russia, and calls to MegaFon in any region of Russia are free of charge and do not consume a package of minutes. SMS are not included in the tariff. MegaFon Zashchita, Piggy bank (up to 25 GB), Internet distribution (tethering) for free. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package.

Added 200 minutes, which is again logical from the point of view of the name of the “Calls” tariff. Please note that calls to other Russian operators in excess of the package of 1.5 rubles / min.

“No overpayments Everything”… The subscription fee is 600 rubles / month. Data transfer – 50 GB (was 30 GB), unlimited on social networks when in Moscow and the Moscow region. The package of 600 minutes is spent on all calls within Russia except for calls to MegaFon, which now do not spend minutes from the package. After the expiration of the package, unlimited MegaFon is activated in all regions. 300 SMS are now included in the tariff. MegaFon Zashchita, Piggy bank (up to 100 GB), Internet distribution (tettering) for free. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package.

Well done, we adjusted the tariff well, making it quite “edible”. We added 20 GB of traffic and a package of 300 SMS, calls to MegaFon are now not consumed.

“No overpayments Maximum”… The subscription fee is 1 rubles / month. Data transfer – unlimited. A package of 000 minutes is spent on all calls within Russia. 1 SMS are included in the tariff. MegaFon Protection is free. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package.

It is unclear, at an expensive rate for 1 rubles. calls to MegaFon consume a package of minutes per month. While, for example, for “Everything” the package of minutes for on-net calls is not spent. A strange “greed”. I even had the thought that it was at the “Maximum” that they forgot to correct or correct this parameter, but they just forgot to add it to the description. But no, I looked at the very expensive rates “VIP” and “Premium” – the same story, calls to “MegaFon” are not taken out of the package of minutes.

“No overpayments VIP”… The subscription fee is 1 rubles / month. Data transfer – unlimited. The package of 800 minutes is spent on all calls within Russia, including to MegaFon. 2 SMS are included in the tariff. MegaFon Zashchita, Internet distribution (tettering) free of charge. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package. One day of free roaming is charged on the tariff per month (500 GB of Internet is available per day and 300 minutes for any incoming and outgoing calls to Russia). I did not see any changes in the tariff.

“No overpayments Premium”… The subscription fee is 3 300 rubles / month. Data transfer – unlimited. The package of 5 minutes is spent on calls within Russia to all operators, including MegaFon. 000 SMS are included in the tariff. MegaFon Zashchita, Internet distribution (tettering) free of charge. Unlimited for messengers works even with a negative balance and does not consume the Internet package. For a month, the tariff includes two days of free roaming (300 GB of internet is available per day and 1 minutes for any incoming and outgoing calls to Russia). I did not see any changes in the tariff.

MegaFon has removed the automatically connecting package of minutes from tariffs, which is good and correct. This was a bad option and annoying. It is a pity that they did not bring the matter to the end with the SMS-packages, in the tariffs “Internet” and “Calls” SMS are not included in the packages.

A little surprising is the too wide “clearance” in prices between VIP and Premium, the difference in the monthly fee is as much as 1 rubles. The developers, too, probably saw this “clearance” and even carefully filled it with the “Ultra” tariff, but marketers (?) Made this “Ultra” a non-public special offer. It is a pity, the tariff would fit well into the line: for 500 rubles. give 2 300 minutes a month. That is, it turns out 3 rubles / min for this “Ultra” in comparison with 300 rubles / min for the VIP and 0.70 rubles / min for the “Premium”. In general, I have always wondered: who is the subscriber who consumes 0.72 minutes a month? That’s more than 0.66 hours of calls a day on average!

Summary

Users of expensive “Maximum”, “VIP” and “Premium” should not read the new tariffs and look for changes with a magnifying glass. It seems that these changes simply do not exist. But the relatively inexpensive tariffs “Internet”, “Calls” and “Everything” have been improved, which is good news. I would say that in the Moscow region, users of these tariffs are encouraged to switch. And you will not even lose your accumulated wealth in the “Piggy Bank”, they will go to the “Piggy bank” of your new tariff.

As for residents of other regions, here, as usual, the situation is ambiguous. Somewhere the new line has become better than the previous one, and somewhere worse. You need to look at the region’s website and compare, it is not recommended to run over to new tariffs in the heat of the moment. Interesting tariff “swing”, I have already got used to the fact that new tariffs are now always worse than the previous ones. And then suddenly on the contrary, in the Moscow region they became better.

About balance

While writing the text, I thought that I had not checked the balance on my number for 100 years. I call from him very rarely, the tariff is without a monthly fee, the balance on the balance is decent. But you never know what? Mechanically I dialed * 100 # – alas, a bummer, sir.

MegaFon, a new tariff line

I remembered that MegaFon had long ago abolished checking the balance by a standard command and now everyone is being driven to install the application. The motivation is charming, quote from the answer script:

“We keep up with the times and develop promising self-service channels, such as the Personal Account, where the possibilities are much wider, information is presented more fully and clearly. Key telephone users can continue to use this command. “

Explain to me, a stupid one: how can it turn out to be “more complete and clearer” than just getting an answer to a USSD request to go to your Personal Account via the Internet? If I only need three balance numbers (otherwise I would not send a request), then why should I twist my hands? Okay, God be their judge, something else is more interesting here. Pay attention to the last phrase about push-button phones. It turns out that in “MegaFon” only those who already have mobile Internet or who can use it, are selectively driven into their Personal Account, the “button leaders” are not touched. And the fact that billing perfectly sees the phone model we have known for a long time, this knowledge simply did not have a serious practical application before. Now we have found how to apply. That is, they seriously bothered their IT specialists and did it badly / inconveniently for thousands of users just for the sake of money and, perhaps, a little better statistics. Well, okay, for the sake of saving costs for your own staff. However, all operators have the overwhelming majority of technical innovations in service pursuing precisely these goals, and the mythical “customer care” is a myth. Many intuitively guess about this, just the example of recognizing the balance turned out to be very bright and clear, in vain they are.

MegaFon, a new tariff line

Still, reading Mobile-Review is useful not only for the wallet, but also for the nerves. Give your grandmother / grandfather a telephone number 0501 in the address book and the life of the old people will get better, even if only in this aspect, but this is also the case. I checked that the answering machine works well, the balance speaks immediately and it’s no more stressful than typing a USSD command manually or from the address book.
