New Xiaomi

The as yet unannounced smartphone Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was spotted on the Tech Buff channel, however, the video was soon deleted. The smartphone has a 6,8-inch OLED screen with curved edges, it supports WQHD + resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. The hole located in the upper left corner of the screen houses a 20MP selfie camera. The screen is covered with a protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and the smartphone itself has an IP68 degree of protection against water and dust. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset in combination with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 file storage. The exact amount of memory in the device is still unknown. The model is powered by a 5000 mAh battery, which supports 67W fast wired charging, 67W wireless charging and 10W reversible charging.

As for the rear camera, the main sensor has a resolution of 50 MP, while the wide-angle lens and the periscope telephoto lens are 48 MP each. As specified, the smartphone supports 10x optical and 120x hybrid zoom. There is a small display next to the camera block, apparently for selfies. Other features worth noting are two Harman Kardon speakers, a sub-screen fingerprint scanner and a pre-installed MIUI 12.5 global shell assembly. The price and release date of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is still unknown. The smartphone is expected to be released in two months.

What’s Apple up there?

The Hyundai Motor Group said it is not currently in talks with Apple on the creation of Apple’s first electric vehicle. The automaker says it is discussing potential autonomous electric vehicle projects with various partners, but has yet to make a final decision. Perhaps such a statement by the Korean corporation was made on purpose in order to stop the spread of rumors until the official signing of a contract with Apple. And it was also reported that Apple’s electric car will be fully autonomous, and the first model is likely to be aimed at delivery and robotaxi services.

It is not yet clear how Apple will surprise us in the end. On the one hand, it is interesting to look at their first civilian electric car, because knowing the company, they will most likely get a not ideal, but very interesting product in this category. On the other hand, it is not enough just to make a car, you need a large network of service centers, well-established channels for the supply of spare parts and many other things important for after-sales service. Automakers do not come out of nowhere, there is an exception in the form of Tesla, which burst into the market without experience in creating and selling cars, but the company still lives on investors’ money, and more and more flaws emerge in each model. But let’s see if Apple can surprise us, nevertheless, according to forecasts, they plan to present an electric car no earlier than 2024, and it will be a civilian version or a fully autonomous taxi, we will find out later.

Yes, and more about Apple, according to numerous forecasts and the report of the American financial holding JP Morgan Chase, Apple may discontinue the release of the iPhone 12 mini in the second quarter of 2021 due to low demand. “Given that demand for the iPhone 12 mini has been weak, the company may stop manufacturing the smartphone in the second quarter of this year,” said William Young, an analyst at JP Morgan Chase. However, he predicts that sales of the iPhone 12 Pro Max will grow by 11 million units over the course of the year, the iPhone 12 Pro by 2 million and the iPhone 11 by 8 million. For the iPhone 13, Yang predicts shipments of 80 to 90 million units. which is more than 76 million for the iPhone 12 series in the second half of 2020.

I have mixed feelings about the iPhone 12 mini. On the one hand, it’s great that someone other than Sony has finally released a compact and powerful smartphone. On the other hand, people who buy a smartphone now are, to one degree or another, content consumers, and for this in the modern world, 12 mini, whatever one may say, is not very suitable. If Apple nevertheless decides to remove this product from the line, then I do not think that anyone will be upset, well, except for that couple of people on the network who constantly write that they want a compact device, but never buy it for themselves.

New features of music speakers

Mail.ru announced the appearance of a new Spotify Connect feature in its “Capsule” smart column, thanks to which the “Capsule” repertoire has expanded: the ability to listen to your favorite playlists from Spotify has been added to songs from the BOOM music service and VKontakte Music.

And two days later, the company also announced that from now on, you can control Xiaomi smart devices using its voice assistant “Marusya”, which is present in the “smart” column “Capsule”. The voice assistant is currently already compatible with power outlets, humidifiers, lights, heaters and other Xiaomi devices that support voice control.

Mail.ru, of course, are funny guys, for a year they sat with Marusya and Capsule and merged the market with competitors, and then at the beginning of the year they suddenly woke up and added support for Spotify, as well as control of smart devices from Xiaomi. Anyone who pushed the developers to add these functions can only shake hands, finally the purchase of the “Capsule” is at least somehow justified. I hope the developers will not stop there and will continue to expand the capabilities of their assistant and speaker. So, you see, it will soon be easier to buy a “Capsule” for 7 rubles, and not a column from competitors, which is more expensive.

Last week, Sonos suddenly woke up and announced that users of its speakers can use the Yandex.Music application on their devices, as well as get access to a variety of audio content with high sound quality. The service is already running, and you can add it to the custom system through the proprietary Sonos application. We are waiting for the Alice voice assistant to appear in Sonos devices.

Audi showed a competitor Taycan

Audi has unveiled the e-tron GT, a four-door electric coupe that can be considered a rival to the Porsche Taycan. The e-tron GT received two electric motors with a total power of 476 hp, which will allow the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds, and the power reserve will be over 488 km in the WLTP cycle. Also, buyers will be offered a more powerful version of the RS e-tron GT with 598 hp. and acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.3 seconds. This electric car will arrive in Russia, but so far there is no information on the timing and prices for it. In Germany, where the e-tron GT will go on sale this spring, the price will be 99 euros for the younger version and 800 euros for the older one.

To be honest, at first I did not really understand why the company should produce a direct competitor to the Porsche Taycan, and even at a higher price, because both automakers are part of the same concern. It’s just that in Russia the Taycan starts at 6 rubles, and the price for the e-tron GT will start at almost 580 rubles. But everything fell into place when I went into the Porsche configurator, chose a modification close to Audi’s specifications, and added a couple of options to the base Taycan, after which the price immediately approached 000 million, and I didn’t even complete the configuration. It turns out that with a lower entry threshold, Porsche in equipment comparable to the e-tron GT will still cost more. So the buyer will have to choose between a stuffed e-tron GT, which is also prettier than its sibling, and more modest specifications and a set of options from the Taycan.

New Duster

Renault has shown the second generation of the Russian version of its popular budget crossover Renault Duster. This car, produced under the Dacia brand, has been on sale in Europe since 2018, but the Russian version has received a number of new design features and a completely redesigned interior in the spirit of the Arkana coupe-crossover. The car has a new multimedia system with a large touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. It can also be supplemented with the Yandex.Auto service via Easy Link. Heated windshield, steering wheel and rear sofa are available as options. The car received a redesigned radiator grille with a large Renault logo, all versions will be equipped with LED running lights and LED rear dimensions, which are available in older trim levels. The crossover has a new electric power steering and height and reach adjustments. Renault Duster II will be on sale from March 1, 2021, but prices and specific configurations have not yet been presented.

In general, the new Duster looks pretty good, and the interior has become modern and, I hope, more comfortable. It turns out such a more brutal and, in theory, affordable analogue of Renault Arkana, which we have already talked about:
