Paramount to release direct sequel to JJ Abrams’ “Monstro”

Paramount Studios will release a direct sequel to Monstro 13 years later, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is produced by JJ Abrams, he also worked on the first part.

The script is written by Joe Barton, the creator of the Duty / Shame series and the showrunner of the Batman television spin-off about the Gotham police. At the same time, the sequel to “Monstro” will not be filmed in a pseudo-documentary format. Other details are still unknown.

The first “Monstro” (originally Cloverfield) was released in 2008. The tape is made in the genre of the found tape. The plot told about a group of young people who are trying to survive during an attack on New York by an unknown giant creature. With a budget of $ 25 million worldwide, the film grossed an impressive $ 172 million.

After Monstro, Paramount and Bad Robot made two films from the same universe, Cloverfield 10 and The Cloverfield Paradox, but they were rather indirectly related to the 2008 film.
