June is the month of Pride. This holiday lasts several days at the end of the month and is dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ community. Depending on the country, the Pride can take place in the format of a march, parade, action or other event.
Apple has been supporting the movement for several years and showing exclusive bands for the Apple Watch – such is the company’s tradition. The watchOS operating system also has watch faces in the colors of the pride logo, which are not available due to regional restrictions in Russia.
Since most of the events in Pride month have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, LGBT organizations hold a huge number of online events where they explain that being gay is normal, you shouldn’t be shy about it.
For the first time, Nike has presented an exclusive pride strap, which is already available for order on the American website for $ 49 (new straps will not be available in Russia). Apple also introduced a silicone strap to match the new dial, also costing $ 49:
The thing about the strap is that the colored stripes that make up the strap are cut out with a machine stamp and squeezed together. If you look closely, you can see waves at the junctions that make each strap unique and unrepeatable. Top!
The new pride watch faces will appear in watchOS 6.2.5, which the company promises to release very soon. In the weekly collection “About everything interesting” I showed how the dials will look.
Apple and Nike continue to support LGBT organizations around the world, including GLSEN, PFLAG, Gender Spectrum, National Center for Equality and others.
