Apple is launching the Security Research Device program, in which researchers will receive special versions of the iPhone with modified software to make it easier to find security vulnerabilities and system bugs.
The smartphones that Apple will provide to the researchers are no different from ordinary devices, the launch of standard and third-party programs will also not be affected, but the software will be changed for almost unlimited access to various elements of the system.
The batch of devices will be limited, smartphones will be provided for a year (they remain the property of the company), if desired, the period can be extended. But do not expect everyone to get the device: the company will only consider applications from account holders registered in the testing program and having a good reputation.
If researchers find a vulnerability in standard software, they are obliged to immediately inform Apple about it, and if in third-party programs, then developers. For each vulnerability found, a reward is provided (at the request of the researcher). Record – $ 1 million.
