The renowned Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Compal has unveiled a curious smartphone called CHEESE: a device equipped with a flexible display designed primarily for photography.
In the basic mode of use, CHEESE looks like a standard monoblock device. There is a notch at the top of the display that houses the dual camera.
The rear camera is missing. For ordinary photo or video shooting, you need to bend the upper third of the body with the selfie unit 180 degrees: as a result, the dual front camera will be at the back.
When folded, the display section on the back of the device can be used to display any images designed to attract the attention of the subject. In this case, buttons on the side of the device can be used for control. In other words, the smartphone is transformed into a kind of classic compact camera.
At the bottom of the unusual gadget, two speaker grilles and a USB Type-C port are visible. Other specifications are not shown.
At the moment, Compal CHEESE is only a concept device. The developer does not disclose plans to bring it to the commercial market.
