The recent news that the next generation iPhones will be sold in a cut-down configuration has caused a very strong reaction. If you look at the comments, then people can be divided into two camps: some are surprised at how cleverly Apple is able to make money, others scold the company for greed and greed.

Let me remind you that at the end of May 2020, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that wired EarPods headphones would disappear from the set of iPhones. A month later, he decided that there would be no charging included with the phone. What’s next: no cable, quick start guide, or branded stickers in the box?

The first step is to understand that this is just a rumor. The news came from a respected analyst Min-Chi Kuo, he is famous for reliable predictions about Apple’s new products, they often come true, but there are also mistakes.

This has already happened

Apple’s credibility allows you to take risks – just remember the iPhone 7, where the company abandoned the usual 3,5 mm jack for wired headphones. Apple’s premise was simple: Why would you use wired headphones when you have wireless ones? The AirPods were introduced at the same time as the 7 and quickly became a hit. Nevertheless, in the box with the iPhone XNUMX were the usual wired EarPods headphones, only they were connected to the iPhone via the Lightning connector. Moreover, the phone was bundled with an adapter from Lightning to a 3,5 mm port, the revolutionary changes turned out to be bold, and Apple decided to slightly lower the degree of public excitement. What is usually given in the kit?

The complete set of a modern Android smartphone is usually as follows: we get the device itself, a cable for connecting to a computer and a charger. This is a minimum program, then everything depends on the price of the phone and the manufacturer. Often, a silicone case is included with smartphones from Chinese brands. Very often, a protective film is also glued to the screen: it is quickly scratched, but still protects the glass itself from minor damage.

Along with mid-range and top-end phones, powerful fast charging is usually included. Wired headsets are often also included in the kit, and in rare cases, you can get a wireless headset as a bonus. For example, by placing a pre-order at the start of sales.

In the case of Apple, most likely a different story. Wired EarPods can be removed from the set with the iPhone 12, which, according to Apple, is among the basic models. They can also remove the wired charging at the same time – anyway, the iPhone 11 of the current generation is equipped with a weak 5W charge. Of course, people use it, but so that the iPhone does not charge for three hours, it is easier to buy a more powerful charger. Moreover, there are a lot of suitable accessories, Apple itself last year got a wonderful 18W charger. But it comes with expensive iPhone Pro, but the simple model is devoid of such luxury.

Bought a phone, buy and charge!

Is it possible the scenario when the iPhone 12 Pro will also be without a wired headset and without a quick charge included? In my opinion, no, this is a very strange step. A $ 1000-plus phone with no charge in the box?

Although no one bothers Apple to sell separately power supplies and separately sell wires for connecting to these same blocks. Well, what, double benefit without unnecessary effort. Again, iPads have long been sold without bundled headphones. This applies both to simple models and to the top representatives of the Pro-series.

Old-timers remember that the phones of the early 2000s were equipped with all sorts of bells and whistles. In my opinion, Min-Chi Kuo’s assumption is interesting at least because all phone buyers use chargers, unlike headphones. If Apple launches a phone without charging the bundle on sale, it will be an unusual decision, so no one has yet risked it.

At the same time, this can also be called a pragmatic approach: since people do not like the low-power 5W charger included, then you can remove it from the box altogether! Of course, I would like to get a powerful charging of 18 W, or even 20 W, the latter is also rumored. But this will lead to an inevitable increase in the cost of the kit. It is not profitable.

But the company is profitable to sell the iPhone, and along with it the charger. However, if not all, then very many have additional charges at home, in the office, in the country, in the car – and nothing will change in the usual routine.

I think that even if Apple sells the iPhone 12 in a box without accessories, they will still buy the phone. While some scold on the Internet, others go and buy in real life – such is the reality, and nothing can be done about it. If rich phone sets had a significant impact when choosing a new mobile phone, then neither Sony Ericsson nor Nokia would die, and Android smartphones would already take over the world. But no.
