Gamesindustry.biz reported that Zynga, which has specialized in mobile games for a long time, has acquired Echtra Games. The latter was founded in 2016 and since then has managed to release only one project – Torchlight III (in early access).
On the acquisition, Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau said: “Max [Schaefer, Founder of Echtra Games] and his Echtra Games team are responsible for some of the most legendary trends [in the gaming industry] ever imagined. They are also well versed in the action RPG genre and cross-platform development. This acquisition will help develop our iconic brands from mobile devices to PCs and consoles, and will help Zynga further develop its core market. ”
Guibault said Echtra Games will partner with NaturalMotion to create “new unannounced cross-platform RPG».
Recall that earlier Zynga acquired Gram Games, Small Giant Games, Peak Games and Rollic Games. All of these companies specialize in the creation of mobile games.
