Rumor: in future iPhones there will be no “monobrows”, Lightning and USB Type-C

Apple will introduce three iPhones in September 2020. According to sources, this will be a major design update. Rumor has it that designing the look of the new iPhones, the designers were inspired by the iPhone 4.

Renowned graphic designer Veniamin Geskin, who showed us what the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max will look like in 2018, received an update on the company’s future flagships.

Apple is currently working on different options for Face ID. Some of the prototypes have a smaller lens, some have a narrower one. In theory, all this will help place the system within the display.

Also Apple, according to Benjamin, is working on changing the antenna of iPhones. It will become wider, which will allow better reception of the 5G signal.

The company has long-term plans to liquidate all ports. That is, iPhones will not have either Lightning or Type-C. Smartphones will charge using Qi and transfer files using ultra-wideband UWB signals. At a distance of three meters, speeds will be in the region of 500 Mbps. At a distance of ten meters – 110 Mbps. True, Benjamin does not specify in what year this will happen. Therefore, one should hardly expect the emergence of such a system in 2020.

What else?

Apple plans to add a ToF laser module to the main cameras. It is also called a time-of-flight camera. This sensor emits light and measures its return time. Thus, the smartphone receives information about the distance of objects and makes a better blur.

However, the introduction of this module may indicate the rejection of the “portrait module” and 50x zoom. At least all smartphones with ToF-module are automatically deprived of portrait lenses. On the other hand, Apple can give iPhones the best portraits – there will be a combination of ToF and a portrait lens with a focal length of XNUMXmm, which maintains the correct proportions of faces.

Of course, Apple, apparently, will still give up the “monobrow”. All iPhones will have OLED displays. And two of the three models will receive support for 5G networks:

In addition, iPhones can get a display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as a glowing logo on the back. But the latter sounds like complete nonsense.

The presentation of the new iPhones will take place, as always, in September 2020. Before that, something like the iPhone SE 2 is waiting for us:

It should be shown in the spring of 2020.
