The authors of the material noted that the original MiG-31 was the first fourth-generation combat aircraft in the USSR. And now it can be called one of the best among those put into service. The MiG-31M also expanded the capabilities of the original version. He meant an increased maximum take-off weight. That is, the plane could take on board more fuel and weapons. The fighter would also have a new Zaslon-M radar. The MiG-31M could intercept hypersonic missiles. In addition, the airplane’s airframe would be more streamlined.
The program, however, was curtailed in 1995.
