According to Naked Science, electric vehicles with different autopilots have chosen different paths. For the experiments, by the way, we took a Waymo and Model 3 taxis. The test was carried out at night, so that it was more empty on the roads and safer.
As it turned out, Tesla’s autopilot took the shortest route – five minutes long. The Waymo taxi traveled all the way in eight minutes. It is noted that the second electric car avoided left turns. The first made bold maneuvers with a turn to the left.
Both cars stopped in front of the signs. Tesla’s autopilot sometimes did not turn on the “turn signals” and rebuilt across a solid line. Otherwise, no significant differences were observed.
