According to Chinese media reports, Chinese air taxi manufacturer EHang is set to unveil an electric aircraft with a range of 400 km. This is about ten times more than the EHang 216 autonomous passenger copters allow to fly. There is no detailed information about the new development. Nevertheless, EHang has already reached the stage of mass production of two-seater air taxis and may well aim at something more.
Air taxi EHang 216 (EH216) weigh about 270 kg and can carry up to 270 kg of cargo or two passengers. The cruising speed of the vehicles is 100 km / h with a maximum speed of 130 km / h. The duration of the flight on a full battery charge reaches 20 minutes, and the maximum flight range, thus, is approximately 40 km. If the company can create an autonomous aircraft powered by electric propulsion with a range of 400 km, then this will be a significant step forward. True, we do not yet know what type of aircrafts we are talking about. It is possible that EHang will return to the classic aircraft layout.
In the second quarter of this year, EHang is going to launch a new production site for the assembly of the EH216 air taxi with a capacity of 600 vehicles per year. In terms of mass production of air taxi, EHang has become the only and leading company in the world. It will be interesting to know that she is also ready to conquer not only close, but medium distances by air electric transport.
