Intel has already shipped 115 Xeon Scalable Ice Lake-SP processors to key customers

Intel has revealed some details regarding the deployment of the new Whitley server platform. Intel Vice President Lisa Spelman, in an interview with AnandTech, said that to date, the corporation has already delivered 30 third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors to 115 of its key customers, codenamed Ice Lake-SP, although the official release date of new products still not officially named.

In mid-December last year, information appeared that due to an error in the chips themselves, the release was postponed until the middle of the second quarter of this year, and in January the company simply announced that the announcement should be expected “in the coming months”. Preliminary deliveries of chips, albeit not the final revision, are commonplace for the company. As a rule, the first to receive new items are large HPC customers, cloud providers, as well as government agencies.

The company has already talked a lot about the processors themselves over the past few months. They will form the basis for a broader ecosystem that includes other products: GPU, FPGA, ASIC, Optane DCPMM, SSD, AI accelerators, networking solutions, and so on. Based on all these components, the company will offer complex solutions that also include a full software stack. And it is this entire ecosystem that Intel intends to develop further.
