Yesterday, authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared new details about future glasses and even augmented reality lenses from Apple. Today, however, 9to5Mac has received new information from a reputable analyst that reveals small but important details about the mixed reality headset.
The headset under development by Apple will use as many as 15 camera modules, Kuo said. Eight of them will be responsible for projecting the environment onto integrated displays, and a separate module will analyze the space for positioning objects. The remaining six cameras will be responsible for biometrics. What is meant by the term “biometrics” is anyone’s guess – it can mean facial analysis for specific use cases, or reading facial expressions. The development and supply of camera modules will be carried out by the Taiwanese company Largan Precision, which is known for the production of cameras for mobile equipment.
In his previous report, Min-Chi Kuo said that a mixed reality headset will cost about $ 1. The gadget is expected to be equipped with Sony Micro-OLED displays. The headset should be released in 2022.
