Deathloop director Dinga Bakaba in an interview with Game Informer shared new details of the roguelike shooter Arkane Studios. In addition, a selection of exclusive screenshots and concept art of the project has appeared on the website of the publication.
Recall that Deathloop tells the story of a hired killer named Colt stuck in a time loop. To break the cycle, you need to kill the eight ideologues. One of them is the hunter Julianne Blake – she can be controlled by a second player.
Deathloop takes place on the Black Reef Island, which, as Bakaba admitted, is actually quite small (only one fishing town) and “much less” Karnaki from Dishonored 2.
According to Bakaba, Deathloop’s biggest attraction is its structure. All eight targets must be eliminated within 24 hours and, as it turned out, in a specific order (dictated by the plot).
At first, the task will seem impossible, but over time, Colt will find useful loopholes: for example, he will learn to take weapons, trinkets (items for amplification) and plates (unlock new skills) from one cycle to another.
Bakaba also doubted that speedrunners would be able to run Deathloop in 12 minutes (previously it was reported that the passage would take from 12 to 16 hours), and a person who would find a way to complete the game without firing a shot promised to arrange in Arkane Studios.
Deathloop will be released on May 21 this year for PC (Steam, Bethesda Launcher) and PS5. The recent joining of ZeniMax Media to Microsoft did not affect the platform ownership of the game – the project remained a temporary console exclusive for the PS5.
