The Progress MS-14 cargo spacecraft, which is part of the International Space Station (ISS), has set a new record for the duration of its stay in space.
Until now, the record for the duration of the flight belonged to the Progress M-17 spacecraft, which was in the Mir station for 337 days (in 1993–1994). Now the palm has passed to the Progress MS-14 truck.
The named device was launched under the ISS program on April 25 last year. The spacecraft delivered more than two tons of various cargoes into orbit, including fuel, compressed gases, food and equipment for scientific experiments.
As RIA Novosti reports now, the undocking of Progress MS-14 from the ISS is scheduled for April 27. Thus, this device will spend a little over a year in space.
Meanwhile, the state corporation Roskosmos informs that the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-18 has been allowed to refuel at the Baikonur cosmodrome. The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with this vehicle is scheduled for April 9th. The spacecraft is to deliver the participants of the next long-term expedition to the ISS. The prime crew included Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, as well as NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hai. The backup crew is Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Oleg Artemiev, NASA astronaut Anne McClain.
