The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released a forecast for the global market for smart home devices: analysts believe that the industry will show growth by double-digit percent.
Various set-top boxes, monitoring and security systems, smart lighting devices, smart speakers, smart displays, etc. are taken into consideration.
Last year, the volume of the global market in piece terms amounted to 801,5 million units. Despite the pandemic, the industry showed 4,5% growth compared to 2019.
In the period up to 2025, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) in the designated area is projected at 12,2%. As a result, in the middle of the decade the market volume will reach 1,4 billion units.
Now the devices for home video entertainment are most in demand: their share in the total volume of shipments in 2020 amounted to 37,0%. In 2025, this figure will drop to 27,6%, analysts say.
In second place in popularity are devices for monitoring and security: their share will rise from 20,5% to 21,2%. Next come smart speakers with a score of 16,3% in 2020 and a projected share of 14,4% in 2025.
