Cooler Master has announced the MasterCase EG200 case, which allows a desktop discrete graphics card to be used as an external graphics accelerator for a laptop.
The novelty is suitable for full-size video adapters with dimensions up to 325 × 141 × 54 mm (2,5 expansion slots). A Thunderbolt 3 interface with a bandwidth of up to 40 Gb / s is used to connect the case itself to a computer. The same port allows you to supply up to 60 watts of power to the laptop for recharging.
MasterCase EG200 provides a bay for a 3,5 / 2,5 “SATA hard drive or solid state drive. In the side of the case, there is a special stand for vertical placement of the laptop.
The device has a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A hub for connecting peripherals. Dimensions are 383 × 140 × 208 mm. The equipment includes a Cooler Master V Gold SFX 550W power supply.
«At just 9,7L, the EG200 is one of the smallest eGPUs on the market to support full-size cards, saving valuable desktop space“, – the developer notes.
The case will go on sale in May: it will be available for an estimated price of $ 500.
