In its Twitter account, Russian Post announced that it wants to take part in testing the new Boston Dynamics loader robot, and has already submitted an application on the company’s website. The robot, named Stretch, is capable of lifting boxes weighing up to 23 kg using a robotic arm with suction cups.
Russian Post this year launched its most technologically advanced logistics center located in the Novosibirsk region. It will be able to process up to 1,5 million parcels and letters per day. All processes are fully automated there. It is in such conditions that the new Boston Dynamics robot can be tested if the national Russian postal service can agree with the robot manufacturer on testing.
«Hi @BostonDynamics. We would like to do a pilot project with your new loader robot at our facility – and have already sent you a request on your website. We look forward to your reply!“, – said in the message of the Russian Post.
The Stretch robot was unveiled today, March 29th. It has a square base with wheels and a touch center with cameras and various sensors needed for precise positioning. The device can move up to 800 boxes per hour, working 8 hours without recharging. Almost like a person.
