The seaports of Berdyansk, Mariupol, Skadovsk, Kherson will be closed until control over them is resumed after the Russian occupation.
The decision to close the seaports of Berdyansk, Mariupol, Skadovsk, Kherson until control over them was restored was made due to the inability to serve ships and passengers, carry out cargo, transport and other related economic activities.
The corresponding decision was made by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Government Portal reports.
It is noted that the department adopted an order from April 28 No. 256, which was registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on April 29 under No. 470/37806 “On the closure of seaports.”
Ukraine also took such a step due to the fact that, due to the Russian invasion, it cannot guarantee the necessary level of navigation safety and ensure environmental protection. The work of the ports will be resumed immediately after the victory of Ukraine over the Russian invaders.
“The adoption of this measure is due to the impossibility of servicing ships and passengers, carrying out cargo, transport and other related economic activities, ensuring an adequate level of safety of navigation, compliance with the requirements of international treaties of Ukraine, the consent to be bound by which is provided by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as ensuring the protection the environment at a time when the Russian Federation continues to conduct military operations in these regions, which poses a threat to human life and health,” the ministry explained.
Recall that earlier President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed the food crisis that could occur in the world due to the Russian attack on Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader noted that Russia should unblock Ukrainian ports.
